Trashed yard leaves neighbor looking for answers

Posted: Updated:

Thomas Township resident Debra Bunzow said she's tired of living next to propane tanks littering the driveway, a pickup truck that doesn't run, a dilapidated swimming pool she said is a breeding ground for mosquitoes, and even a refrigerator, riddled with bullet holes.

"Clean that mess up over there. I mean, it's disgusting," Bunzow said.

Bunzow said she's been asking officials with Thomas Township to get the neighbor to clean up his house up for ages.

So TV5 went to work asking the tough questions.

Township manager Russell Taylor promises the issues will be addressed.

He said the refrigerator and truck appear to not be in compliance with township code.

Bunzow said she's ready for the township to take action.

"Why do I pay my taxes? That's the bottom line right there," Bunzow said. "I was brought up in Thomas Township, and I've been here 41 years. It's not like I thought it would be."

When TV5 stopped by for the homeowner’s side of the story, they didn’t come to the door.

As for Bunzow, she said the cleanup can't come soon enough.

"There's no reason for it. None," Bunzow said.

Township officials said to check back in about 10 days on the status of working to get that house into compliance.
