HURON COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A duck hunter and his teenage son were rescued after the motor quit on their boat.

It happened Saturday, Oct. 17 at 6:53 a.m.

Huron Central Dispatch got a 911 call for help from the Clio area duck hunter after he said the engine on his 15 foot aluminum boat had quit. The 33-year-old and his 14-year-old son were adrift about a mile north of Caseville Township’s Sand Point.

The man told officials he was very worried about capsizing due to the rougher water conditions and his small boat.

Deputies responded and were able to tow the pair to shore.

This is the second boat hunting related incident in that area in the last three weeks. In the Sept. 30 incident the individuals also had mechanical issues about 1.5 miles off of Fairhaven Township’s Geiger Road and became stranded. They were also rescued.
