Heaviest pumpkin in MI throwing weight behind charity

Posted: Updated:

You can win a giant pumpkin, and help a charity in the process.

Mark Clementz of Holly is raffling off the biggest pumpkin in the state.

The 1,734 pound gourd is the heaviest in Michigan this year, and Clementz is throwing that weight behind a cause close to his heart, the Spirit of Alexandria foundation.

The foundation gives hundreds of children the opportunity to go to overnight camp at no charge to their families.

To win the prize, Clementz is selling three raffle tickets for $5, or 15 for $20.

The first place winner gets the pumpkin, or $300 in cash, plus six seeds from the heavyweight.

2nd and 3rd prize include $300 in grow supplies, plus two seeds from the pumpkin.

Clementz is also giving away “Don’t You Grow No Ugly Pumpkin” shirts for the 4th, 5th and 6th place finishers.

The winning raffle ticket will be selected next Sunday, and Clementz will deliver the pumpkin the next day, as long as the winner lives in a 100 mile radius from Holly.

If you don’t see the pumpkin out and about in the community, you can get your raffle tickets by emailing him at mark@worldwidegiantgrowers.com.
