CLAYTON TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

A man was arrested after allegedly assaulting his wife after being served divorce papers.

The 34-year-old Clayton Township man also allegedly threatened to “blow her off,” according to the Clayton Township Police Department.

The woman attempted to call police, but the man took her cell phone. She then fled to a neighbor’s house and called 911, police said.

The man allegedly took his wife’s cash and credit cards before fleeing the residence.  He later returned and officers were called to the residence.

He was arrested for domestic assault, felony firearm, interfering with a telecommunications device calling 911, and possession of Xanax.

A 21-year-old woman at the resident was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine and resisting arrest.

The incident happened in Genesee County’s Clayton Township.
