SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Smooth is how Brian Ulman describes road work being done on southbound Interstate 75 in Saginaw County.

"Project is going really well. We're a couple of weeks behind due to some of the weather in places we had early this season but other than that going pretty smooth," Ulman said.

The 5-mile stretch from Buena Vista to Bridgeport is getting a complete overhaul, with all the lanes being reconstructed, and new overpasses being built.

Ulman is project manager for the Michigan Department of Transportation. He said the southbound lanes will reopen in time for firearm deer hunting season in November.

"Nearing completion of the main line paving. And we're also working on the barrier wall, the valley gutter, and the shoulders out there, also the restoration of the job site so we're getting close," Ulman said.

And if you're someone who likes seeing the sight of orange construction barrels Ulman said don't worry, they'll be back soon enough.

"Next season we'll be starting up on northbound. Basically the same type of work but on northbound. All the traffic will be on the southbound lanes during that construction," Ulman said.

Ulman promises motorists a smooth ride when the work wraps up and praised his employees for a job well done.

"We appreciate all the hard work you've been doing out there and seeing this great project come together," Ulman said.
