FREELAND, MI (WNEM) -

Donald the duck is being rescued. He won't be stuck here in a pond much longer, thanks to you, our viewers.

"I was thrilled," said Linda Neuenfeldt.

Tuesday, TV5 brought you Donald’s story. He his wings are clipped, so he can't fly south for the winter. But his owners left him behind.

That's when Neuenfeldt reached out to the TV5 Rescue Squad for help, fearing the animal would die alone in the cold.

"It was getting down to the wire. You know we started getting these nights that it's 30 degrees and 28 and it doesn't take long for it to snap and freeze," Neuenfeldt said.

Sandy Harrington is providing Donald’s new home, and she said she’s glad to help.

"Everybody on Facebook was blowing me up, that I need to go save this duck named Donald," Harrington said.

Harrington plans on housing 10 ducks this winter, keeping them warm and fed until the spring thaw. She said she is glad to know Donald has many more days ahead of him.

"I'm a big animal lover. I like don't kill anything. So it feels good to give Donald a home," Harrington said.

Neuenfeldt said she's overwhelmed by our viewer's response to save Donald, and grateful to the TV5 Rescue Squad.

"Thank you so much for your help. I appreciate it," Neuenfeldt said.
