MIDLAND, MI (WNEM) -

A Mid-Michigan company is laying off more than 100 employees.

XALT Energy released press release on Monday that said the company is experiencing a delay from its customers in the performance of contracts for its lithium ion batteries.

As a result, the company will lay off 106 employees at its Midland location.

XALT called the change “short-term.”

“We regret the impact this has on XALT Energy’s employees, their families, and surrounding community, but we remain committed to find avenues to fill this gap,” the company said in the press release.

XALT is in the process of adding new customer programs and expects to be on track for the second half of 2016, the company said.
