Trash dump cleared next to cemetery

Posted: Updated:

The mountain of trash that frustrated Shelly Strong and Joann Albrecht is gone.

"Great, really happy. This has really taken a load off of my mind," Strong said.

Strong is elated.

Strong and Albrecht went to TV5 to ask the tough questions about the mound of trash dumped just yards away from the loved one they buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

"To see this big pile of mess. Nobody would have that in their backyards so why should they?" Strong said.

They said dealing with the mess that used to be here has taken a toll on them.

"I'm the only one in my family who does this," Albrecht said.

Albrecht had a hard time holding back tears as she said she dealt with all the trash here for three years. She's glad to see it gone and wants the cemetery to keep it that way.

"Let's do it the right way and not the wrong way," Albrecht said. "Because if it's the wrong way we're not going to shut up. We'll be making phone calls, we'll be taking pictures, and we'll be back to TV5."

As for strong. She's grateful to us that we were able to get results for everyone visiting the cemetery.

"Thank you TV5 for answering the question and thank you city of Saginaw for cleaning it up," Albrecht said.
