ST. JOHNS, Mich. (WNEM) -

A consumer advisory has been issued for Uncle John’s Cider Mill Old Fashioned Apple Cider.

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development issued the consumer advisory on Tuesday because it has the potential to be contaminated with E. coli, the department said.

Customers who have purchased the product are requested to dispose of it immediately.

A random sample collected by the department tested positive for E.coli, the department said.

No illnesses have been reported, but Uncle John’s voluntarily ceased all sales of the cider until further test results are performed.

The advisory impacts 1,200 gallons of cider produced on Oct. 17. The advisory affects cider sold at the cider mill with a sell by date of Oct. 30, as well as the cider sold by the cup to consumers from Oct. 18 through Oct. 21.

Uncle John’s is located at 8614 US-127 in St. Johns.
