GoFundMe account started to buy the Detroit Lions inches forward

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WNEM) -

A Central Michigan University graduate is fed up with our Detroit Lions, and has a plan to fix the team. Buy them.

Jeff Tarnowski has started a GoFundMe account trying to raise $1 billion to buy the team.

Tarnowski, who says he studied business at CMU, said on the post:

Let’s face it: The Detroit Lions need a new owner. I’m not going to rant, we all know the situation. Somebody needs to do something about this monstrosity. I am willing to make that sacrifice for all of you before this Honolulu Blue blood is no longer inherited by our offspring.

As of 3:00 p.m. on Monday $2,685 has been put toward the goal. 155 people have put money toward the goal in six days.

Tarnowski does have a plan for what to do with the money if the deal doesn’t go through.

At the end of the day, if the Ford’s reject my gracious offer to spare them from the witch hunt that is brewing in the D, then we’ll at least get some serious money for Detroit charities.

Tarnowski is now more clearly outlining what those charities might be. They include:

  • Feed the D
  • Bens Encore
  • Special Olympics MI
  • Children's Hospital - (For JOE)

He also has an updated message for all those skeptics out there.

Clarification: This is not a scam and I am not stealing your money. I get it, since this is not Kickstarter, you do not get your money back if the goal is not reached. You just have to trust that after GoFundMe takes their cut, ALL of the proceeds are going to a Detroit charity or charities (that is IF we can't reach our attainable goal of Lions ownership!!!) I know, trust in a internet stranger right? There has been too much exposure at this point for even the shadiest scammer to run- So, LET'S DO THIS!
