11-year-old cancer patient dies after request to go to Disney answered by community

Cassidy Christie, 11, has died from cancer.

Her request to go to Disney was answered by her community in October.

Cassidy was diagnosed with a rare cancer in February. Unfortunately, treatment was not successful.

Cassidy has had more than 20 weeks of chemotherapy treatments, but the cancer spread to her spine and other parts of her brain.

Her Facebook page Cure4Cass announced  her decision to cease cancer treatments and come home from the hospital.

Baring a true miracle from God, our intention is to spend every minute with Cassidy doing whatever she wants. We brought her home from the hospital last week and she has already had tons of good and sad times with family and friends and our hope is she’ll have many more! She really wants to go to Disney, so we are going!

The community responded, and in less than 24 hours from the Facebook post, more than $8,500 was raised.

Her Facebook page thanked those who had donated to grant her her wish.

Everyone has already been so generous with thoughts, prayers and funds that it's overwhelming. We can't say enough... and there are no words to express how the entire community near and far fought right alongside Cassidy during this horrible cancer.
