Mayoral race heating up days before election

Posted: Updated:
FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

The battle lines are drawn and the Vehicle City might be shifting lanes with the mayoral race just a few days away.

Incumbent mayor Dayne Walling is facing Karen Weaver.

“This is going to be close,” Walling said.

Weaver said, “Well, I hope it’s not a tight race.”

Walling said Flint is his city and he wants to remain mayor.

“I am working everyday throughout the weekend, early next week, going door to door myself. Answering those final questions from voters," Walling said.

Weaver said she represents the change citizens have been asking for.

"This is our chance to make some change happen and we've complained, we've talked about it,” Weaver said. “So, if people want things to go in a different direction, they have to come out and help make it happen."

For than three months, voters have heard from both candidates on the campaign trail and in campaign ads.

And now it's finally up to the voters.
