MIDLAND, MI (WNEM) -

Police have released the names of the two people who died Tuesday morning when the vehicle they were in crashed into a school.

It happened about 2:40 a.m. at Midland Academy, 4653 Bailey Bridge Road, in Midland.

Police said 37-year-old William Gregory, of Saginaw, and 33-year-old Miguel Chapa, of Bay City, both passengers in the vehicle, died as a result of the crash.

The driver, a 35-year-old man from Saginaw, is receiving treatment at the Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland for serious, but non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The vehicle was traveling west bound on Bailey Bridge Road, east of the school, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, police said.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor, police said. The driver's name is still being withheld at this time.

Midland Academy closed on Tuesday and Wednesday due to the damage to the building.

The incident remains under investigation.

Bailey Bridge Road was closed between Bus and Saginaw Road for about four hours after the crash.
