Classes resume Friday after Nov. 3 fatal crash took out wall

MIDLAND, MI (WNEM) -

Staff at the Midland Academy are preparing to move on with their school year after a car accident brought it to a halt Tuesday.

"I was stunned at first, I cried and said a prayer for the people who had passed in the terrible accident," Carol Crary said.

Police said a jeep with three men in it crashed through a wall. Two men died at the scene.

The vehicle took out Crary's classroom along with some memories of student projects from years gone by.

"It was kind of like a mother going through all of the baby things, because I remember each child who contributed something and how hard they worked," Crary said.

The force of the crash was so strong that it sent the jeep through three brick walls.

The investigation into the accident continues with more questions than answers. Police are waiting for accident reconstruction and toxicology reports. They've spoken to the driver of the jeep, but said he's not cooperating.

Class is set to resume on Friday. Crary said when she sees her students she'll use the tragic events that unfolded here as a life lesson.

"Realize as you are growing up and someday you will have a driver's license and you are responsible for the lives of your passengers," Crary said. "And maybe use this as sort of a moral tale as well as just mourning the loss of lives."
