AM rain gives way to a cool weekend

Posted: Updated:
SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

A rainy and stormy start to our Friday. A cold front tracked across Michigan this morning bringing heavy rain. Aside from a few lingering showers we are done with the rain. Mainly cloudy skies for the remainder of the day and strong gusty winds. West wind 20-35 mph with gusts exceeding 40 mph.

Temperatures today will start out in the 60s, but will cool into the upper 40s by the late afternoon. So we are starting warm and then getting cooler throughout the day. Mostly cloudy overnight but dry and cooler with lows falling into the upper 30s which is closer to normal for this time of the year. Any Friday night plans you have should be dry but you’ll need to include the jacket again.

A dry and cool weekend ahead. Partly sunny tomorrow with highs in the lower 50s. A few lake effect showers are possible near Houghton Lake and north are possible tomorrow afternoon. Saginaw valley and the tip of thumb may also see a few light showers Saturday but most of us will be dry and it will be a nice day overall. A mix of sun and clouds for most of the day.

Sunday will be the winner this weekend. Sunshine will be abundant and it should be great for any outdoor activities you’ll just need reincorporate a jacket back into your wardrobe. Highs will only reach the upper 40s.

The start of your work week will be nice as well with temperatures slightly above normal in the mid to upper 50s. Sunshine will hold strong as high pressure sits over us and it will be beautiful. Our next storm system tracks into Michigan late Wednesday through early Thursday.
