Police: 77-year-old man dead after crashing vehicle into tree

SANILAC COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A 77-year-old man is dead after his vehicle struck a tree Thursday night.

It happened about 11:20 p.m. on Wildcat Road near Sheridan Line Road in Sanilac County’s Worth Township.

Responding officers found an overturned vehicle that had struck a tree.

The 77-year-old driver from Croswell was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Port Huron McLaren. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver was heading southbound on Wildcat Road when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle went onto the shoulder, back onto the road, then off the roadway where it rolled multiple times before striking a tree and coming to rest of the roof, police said.

The accident remains under investigation.
