6 dogs, 28 puppies rescued from Sanilac County home

SANILAC COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Six adult female dogs and 28 puppies were rescued from a Sanilac County home.

Concerned residents informed the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office of the animal neglect taking place at a home on Huron Line Road in Greenleaf Township.

Staff from the sheriff’s office and the Sanilac-Tuscola Counties’ Animal Control conducted a search warrant on Nov. 5.

Investigators and animal control officers took six adult female dogs and 28 puppies, which are a small breed, into custody during the search warrant, police said.

The dogs are being held at the Sanilac County Humane Society.

The case is under investigation.
