MT. PLEASANT, MI (WNEM) -

There may not have been any rain in Mt. Pleasant for the Central Michigan versus Toledo game, but there was one big shower.

That shower was a baby shower for Zoe Latta. She’s the wife of CMU football player Kelby Latta.

Kelby Latta is a junior defensive tackle for the Chippewas.

His wife is seven and a half months pregnant. The baby girl is due in January.

Zoe Latta doesn’t attend CMU, but said she is part of the football family and is overwhelmed by their support.

“I can’t put into words. It definitely feels good to know that my baby is going to be loved by this many people,” Zoe Latta said.

Paulette Bonamego, CMU’s head coach John Bonamego’s wife, has been a football coach’s wife for a long time. She said she has seen a lot of stuff over the years, but has never seen a baby shower at a football tailgate.

“We love Zoe and we are excited for her and their future. And she is going to be a great mom and he’s going to be a great dad. And if I can ever get out here and get with our parents, I do it. I love our parents. We have the best parents ever. The best support system. And I just like hanging out with them, they are great people,” Bonamego said.
