ISABELLA COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A horse had to be put down after getting hit by a car.

It happened at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday in Isabella County. The sheriff’s department says that 18-year-old Christina Michelle-Mae Parker, from Mt. Pleasant, was driving her Chevrolet Cavalier on E. Beal City Road, just east of Summerton Road when she hit the horse that was standing on the road.

The horse suffered serious injuries and had to be put down.

Parker had facial injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Investigators say the horse had escaped from a fenced area near the accident scene.
