FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Neighbors and friends are shocked to discover the man they only knew as Donny was found dead on the corner of Pulaski and Saginaw streets in a residential and commercial neighborhood.

"Earlier [Tuesday] morning an individual walking to work discovered a body of what we believe to be a white male. We believe he's in his 60's," said MSP Lt. Patrick Young.

Was Donald Edward Brewer, 65, killed or did he die as a result of natural causes?  Detectives won't rule out either scenario.

"There are no obvious signs of foul play or any obvious signs of a homicide, but we will always start out investigating it as such and that where we are right now," Young said.

According to police and some familiar with Brewer, he was recovering from health challenges.

"We’ve got a few people from the neighborhood that believes this may be the same individual that has had some health problems in the past and we're looking into that right now too," Young said.

Brewer loved to play with stray dogs and hustled around the area doing odd jobs.

Police are continuing their investigation.
