Mayor keeps job following recount

Posted: Updated:
BURTON, MI (WNEM) -

When voters in Burton cast their ballots earlier this month, their incumbent mayor won by just 23 votes.

Paula Zelenko's challenger, Danny Wells, called for a re-count.

On Thursday, Zelenko was announced as the winner again.

"We're glad that it's over," Zelenko said. "We're ready to put it behind us and move on to finish the business of the city."

Zelenko was originally selected by the city council to take office in 2010 when the former mayor was elected to the statehouse.
