Several injured from slew of accidents over weekend

SANILAC COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Several accidents were reported over the weekend in Sanilac County.

A 37-year-old Port Sanilac man was transported to the hospital after he lost control of his vehicle on Saturday.

That accident happened shortly before noon on Applegate Road, west of Ridge Road.

The man was driving east on Applegate Road when he lost control of the vehicle, went into a ditch and crashed into a tree, police said.

The man was transported to McKenzie Hospital for treatment.

He was wearing a seatbelt and alcohol does not appear to be a factor, police said.

The road conditions are what caused the man to lose control, police said.

Another accident happened about 1:20 p.m. on Saturday on Deckerville Road, east of N. Sandusky Road.

A 17-year-old Minden City teen was driving west on Deckerville when he told police he fell asleep at the wheel and the vehicle went into a ditch and struck an embankment, police said.

The teenager was transported to McKenzie Hospital for treatment.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, police said.

A third accident happened shortly after 2 p.m. on Saturday.

A 31-year-old Carsonville woman was driving east on M-46, west of Stringer Road, when she lost control of the vehicle and went into a ditch, police said.

She was transported to McKenzie Hospital for treatment.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash and police said the road conditions are what caused the woman to crash.

A fourth accident happened about 4:20 p.m. on Saturday in Buel Township.

A 16-year-old West Branch teen was driving west on Peck Road when he lost control of the vehicle due to the road conditions, police said.

The vehicle went into a ditch and overturned, coming to a rest on the roof of the vehicle.

The teenager was transported to Port Hurton McLaren for treatment.
