Hundreds without power since Saturday

TUSCOLA COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

The generators are still humming away at Norm's Meat Market in Richville.

They've been at it since Saturday.

"Everything was out. Everything out. And today even, my refrigerators aren't kicking in yet," said owner, Jane Rupprecht.

Rupprecht said their cash registers short-circuited when the power went out, adding to the headache.

Down M46, TV5’s cameras spotted DTE trucks working on the lines on Monday night.

Lisa Smith, like Repprecht, has been living without power since the snow started sticking on Saturday.

"Miserable. Cold. Very cold," Smith said.

The DTE trucks outside her house came as welcome relief.

"I can't wait to sleep in a warm bed tonight!" Smith said.

A representative for DTE blames the outage on the weather, but he was not able to pinpoint a specific piece of equipment that's gone bad to explain the prolonged outage.

Rupprecht said the outage is the first of its kind for the store owner.

"It was just something I've never seen before, and I'm 79," Rupprecht said.
