FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

A Mid-Michigan food bank looks like it has lots of food, but it’s not nearly enough to feed all the hungry people in our area.

The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan wants to raise $950,000 – enough money for 5.7 million meals.

"I think it's easily said by it has to start somewhere, and it starts one person at a time, everybody doing everything together, whether it's a small amount or a large amount,  all of that in the cumulative is going to make a huge difference," said FBEM board member, Julianne Princinsky.

The FBEM’s 19th annual holiday fundraising campaign will take anything, from one can to a whole box. But the preferred method of donation is money, even if it’s only a dollar.

"Cause the food bank can take one dollar and leverage it into $6 worth of food for a person so at this time we're looking for dollars but obviously we'll take food as well," said William Kerr.
