It's the busiest travel day of the year.

And for some, the airport can be nerve-raking, especially for Annie Meeker who is flying out to see her sister for Thanksgiving.

“This is my first time flying out alone, so I'm kind of nervous,” Meeker said.

Travel can often be chaotic. Pat Corfman from the Flint Bishop International Airport said there are some things we can all do to reduce the stress.

“Biggest thing we run into is on Thanksgiving people already pre-wrap their holiday gifts for everybody so the TSA might just have to unwrap them so don't wrap them,” Corfman said. “And if you're going to take liquid through the checkpoint they need to be smaller than 3 ounces each and fit in one quart size Ziplock bag.”

The TSA said to arrive 90 minutes before your flight, this ensures everything runs smoothly and you arrive to wherever you're going on time.

Some travelers returning home at Flint Bishop said they had a great flight back with no added delays. They are already looking forward to spending time with the family and thanksgiving turkey

“Three turkeys! A lot of turkeys! I get a lot of help though,” said Betty Wolf.

Meeker arrived early for her flight. She is excited to spend time with her sister in Texas, she's nervous, but her mom isn't.

“I'm not nervous but I know she is, but once she gets to Chicago, we have a game plan of what she has to do,” said Gretchen Meeker.

Annie Meeker said, “I'm just nervous I’m going to get on the wrong flight or mess up something.”
