Restaurant feeds 700 people in Thanksgiving tradition

Delicious, free food, that's what the Savoy Grill served up

About 700 people turned out for the turkey dinner with all the trimmings.

"We do it just as a giveback to our community, it's a thank you, it's just something kind of like the kickoff for our season, it makes people feel good, it makes us feel good," said Steve West, Savoy Grill.

And those who came out also felt good as they filled their tummies...

"I’m very thankful for them to give us, the unfortunate to come down and have dinner with my family here," said Natasha Frazier.

Jesse Young said, "I've been down here for the last three years, and it just keeps getting better and better, and Steve and Jim are amazing guys, and people who couldn't come out they should have to enjoy this Thanksgiving meal."

How much bird are we talking about? Upwards of 500 pounds!

Also on the plate: mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, sweet potatoes, rolls and garnished with cranberry relish.

Homemade pies were also on the menu, made with handpicked apples.

The owners and about 14 volunteers put a lot of hard work in to make the event happen.

"It's like any task – you start, you finish and you're pleased with the results and that's the way we are, we're very pleased when it's all said and done and people have had a good meal and they had a chance to sit down and enjoy it," said Jim Atwood, Savoy Grill.
