Black Friday 'the Super Bowl of shopping'

BIRCH RUN, MI (WNEM) -

The countdown to Black Friday is on.

And some shoppers are already busy snagging some pre-Thanksgiving deals.

Jason Wolverton is with the Birch Run Premium Outlets.

“The deals have actually started earlier this year,” Wolverton said.

He calls the start of Black Friday, the Super Bowl of shopping.

“We're really excited. It's something we plan for months and months in advance as far as making sure the team is on the same page and we're working with stores making sure hours are communicated to folks,” Wolverton said.

More than 100,000 shoppers are expected to head to Birch Run this Black Friday weekend, and staff members at the outlets are working to make sure everything runs smoothly, and shoppers feel safe.

“We work very closely with our security team,” Wolverton said. “We work together to make sure the lines are cued up correctly so people are able to get in and out of stores safely.”

It’s the calm before the storm.

Starting tomorrow at 6 p.m., the stores will be open for 28 hours straight.

And shoppers said they can't wait for it.
