GLADWIN COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A 22-year-old man has been arrested by police after a series of break-ins.

Gladwin Sheriff's deputies had been investigating a series of break-ins in Butman Township as far back as mid-summer. Neighbors had called to report a suspicious man walking through backyards.

Officers tracked Alexander Salowich, Sugar Springs, to a home in the area. According to police, Salowich hid in a basement closet after police were allowed inside by a family member.

Salowich was apprehended by police a few minutes later.

During their initial investigation, officers found several items of stolen property in Salowich's room.

Police said they were able to recover "approximately two pickup truck loads of stolen property" from Salowich's home.

Salowich has been charged with first-degree home invasion, but he could face additional charges as police continue their investigation.
