The college football playoffs are officially locked in.

No. 3 Michigan State will play No. 2 Alabama in the Cotton Bowl in Arlington, Texas.

No. 1 Clemson will take on No. 4 Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl in Miami.

Both games are on New Year's Eve.

The winners will play for the national championship in Glendale, Ariz., on January 11th. It should be an interesting game for Spartan fans, as the Crimson Tide are coached by former MSU Coach Nick Saban.

The Spartans (12-1) sealed the spot in the playoffs after narrowly defeating the Iowa Hawkeyes late Saturday night.

They were down 13-9 with half a minute to play when L.J. Scott lunged forward and stretched the ball over the goal line for a touchdown to push the Spartans past No. and 4 Iowa in the Big Ten championship game.

The extra point gave the Spartans a 16-13 lead. And that turned out to be the final score.

Iowa (12-1) lost for the first time this season.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
