Study: Ann Arbor ranked No. 1 for best small college city

One of Michigan’s biggest college towns is being recognized again.

Ann Arbor was ranked No. 1 for the best small college city, according to WalletHub.

The website ranked the different college towns based on higher education, crime rates and the cost of living to determine which cities offered the best outlook for college students.

Ann Arbor, home of the University of Michigan, was ranked 131 for “wallet wellness”, second for youth-oriented environment and eighth for opportunities.

There were 326 cities in the same category as Ann Arbor, including several others in Michigan.

Kalamazoo ranked 32, Grand Rapids was 92, Dearborn was 130, Lansing was 151, Flint was 181, Warren was 209 and Detroit was 233.

Ann Arbor has the fifth most students per capita out of the listed cities, the study said.
