Boy with autism shares special moment with Santa

GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WNEM) -

A  woman’s Facebook post about an experience with a mall Santa in Michigan has gained a lot of attention.

Naomi Johnson’s post to the RiverTown Crossings Facebook page has been shared more than 7,000 times since she posted it on Dec. 6. The mall is located in Grandville, outside of Grand Rapids.

Johnson’s son has autism. He wanted to tell Santa about his disability and was excited to do so.

“Santa sat him next to him and took L’s hands in his and started rubbing them, calming them down,” Johnson’s post said.

The post continued about the conversation between Santa and Johnson’s son.

Santa told her son having autism should not bother him. He said it should not bother him being who he is, the post read.

The post has received more than 24,000 likes and more than 1,000 comments.

"He was Landon, sitting with Santa and being told that it was OK to be himself," the post read.
