SANILAC COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Four people were transported to the hospital after a multi-vehicle accident on Saturday.

The incident happened on M-25 near Lynn Boulevard in Sanilac County’s Worth Township.

A 2014 Ford Fusion was northbound on S. Lakeshore Road attempting to turn onto Lynn Boulevard. That vehicle was driven by a 44-year-old Lexington woman and her 14-year-old daughter. They were waiting for southbound traffic to clear before turning, police said.

A 2003 Dodge Stratus, driven by a 19-year-old Port Huron woman arrived behind the Fusion and came to stop while waiting for her to turn.

A third vehicle, a 2001 Ford Taurus driven by a 27-year-old Cass City woman, failed to stop in time and struck the Stratus, police said.

This caused the Stratus to enter the southbound lane on S. Lakeshore Road and hit a 2014 Buick Lacrosse head on. The Buick was driven by a 76-year-old Lexington man and was occupied by his 75-year-old wife.

The Taurus then struck the Fusion, police said.

The 19-year-old Port Huron woman, the 76-year-old Lexington man and his wife were transported to the McLaren-Port Huron Hospital for treatment.

The 27-year-old Cass City woman was transported to the Sandusky McKenzie Hospital for treatment.

Police are investigating the accident and the use of drugs or alcohol is to be determined.
