Community health center receives huge grant

Posted: Updated:

A community health center will now be able to reach more people, thanks to a huge grant.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan presented the Genesee Community Health Center with a $100,000 grant on Monday.

The grant will help the center buy a new mobile unit that will be used to reach uninsured people in Flint and Genesee County.

"It's pivotal in that we're able to increase access to services to over a thousand people in our community," said Patty Wagenhofer-Rucker, Genesee Community Health Center.

More than 12 percent of Genesee County does not have health insurance.
