Leave your lightsabers at home if you're seeing Star Wars

BIRCH RUN, MI (WNEM) -

It's almost here, the newest Star Wars movie hits the big screen this Friday.

And Mid-Michigan theaters are bracing for hundreds of fans to come out and see the seventh installment this weekend.

But if you're planning on going out to see the film, you might want to leave your lightsabers at home.

“What we ask is no weapons and obviously something doesn't cover completely your face at least while you're in the theater,” said Randi Sopczynski, manager at Hollywood Cinema. “If you want to take a picture with the mask on that's fine and no bags – no large bags. We ask that those stay at home too just because of the crowd as well.”

Check with your local theater about rules and regulations ahead of the big night.

Hollywood Cinema said it has set aside 12 theaters for the midnight release this Thursday and tickets are still available.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens officially opens Friday.
