FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

General Motors announcing millions of dollars in investments in facilities across the state, and here in Mid-Michigan.

A GM representative announced Tuesday that the auto company will invest $263 million in an all new engine program at Flint Engine Plant.  GM says the move will retain 410 hourly and salary jobs.

Another $50 million will be invested at Saginaw Metal Castings for future driveline component production. A move that General Motors says will retain 68 jobs.

GM says that since 2005 the company has invested nearly $960 million in the Flint Engine Plant, and nearly $2.8 billion in the Flint community since 2005.  The automaker says the company has invested $306 million in Saginaw since 2011.

General Motors went on to say that the company is investing $43.35 million in a facility in Grand Rapids to fund future powertrain component production. The move will create 55 new jobs, and retain 15 others there.

“The agreement with GM on MEGA credits helps Michigan’s budget forecast. And today’s announcement that it is investing in Saginaw, Flint and Grand Rapids proves the company wants to retain a strong presence in Michigan,” said Gov. Rick Snyder. “The fact that GM is committing to invest $1 billion by 2030 here is even better news. It’s a globally competitive environment, and GM’s announcement shows it appreciates that Michigan is a Comeback State with a skilled work force and exciting expansion opportunities.”

Altogether, General Motors says the company has invested $356.35 million in the state of Michigan today. Click here to see GM's press release on the investments.
