LANSING, Mich. (AP) -

Twelve community parks across Michigan are in line for a share of more than $1.2 million Land and Water Conservation Fund grants.

The state Department of Natural Resources says the parks as well as a DNR recreation facility in Emmet County have been recommended to share the funds.

The federal program is administered in Michigan by the DNR and supports villages, cities, townships, counties and the DNR in efforts to provide better public outdoor recreation.

Applicants sought funding for a broad range of public outdoor recreation projects, including playground development and renovations; campground, park and athletic complex improvements; trail and walkway development; and improved access for those with disabilities.

The full list of grant recipients, grant amounts and project descriptions is available on the DNR's website.
