DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. (AP) -

Authorities have identified the man killed by a security officer as he brandished a knife and tried to bypass security at a suburban Detroit police department and court complex.

Michigan State Police said the man killed in the Thursday morning shooting at the Dearborn Heights Police Department and district court is 48-year-old Mark Henning. Investigators say the Dearborn Heights resident confronted the guard with the weapon and was shot.

State police officials are handling the investigation. They say an autopsy is scheduled for Friday. They continue to sift through video evidence and interview witnesses.

Authorities haven't released the identity of the security guard.

Investigators plan to give their report to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office for a charging decision. The complex has been cleared and turned over to the court.
