IMLAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

A Mid-Michigan man has been arrested, accused in connection with human trafficking of a minor.

Michigan State Police say that Roger Reid, 49, of Lapeer County’s Imlay City was arrested on Dec. 13.

That’s when investigators say they were called to a suspicious incident on the Blue Water Bridge involving a registered sex offender a 15-year-old runaway from Detroit.

The girl first told troopers she was 18, and met Reid online. But upon further investigation, it turned out she was only 15, and had run away from Detroit.

Reid has been charged with six counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, child abusive commercial activity, controlled substance provided to a minor, child accosting for immoral purpose and harboring a runaway.

Reid is in custody, and has been ordered to have no contact with the teenager.

The girl has been returned to her family.
