CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -

Authorities say a 13-year-old boy with his 8-year-old sister in tow crashed a car after fleeing a suburban Detroit traffic stop.

The Macomb County sheriff's department says deputies were on the lookout around 11:30 p.m. Saturday for a car that was being driven erratically. A deputy spotted the car at a red traffic light in Clinton Township and initiated a traffic stop.

The department says the car stopped before taking off. The deputy pursued, unaware who was inside, and the car went off the road in a chase recorded on video.

The boy and his sister fled on foot, but were caught. The girl was released to her mother and the boy faces a juvenile detention hearing.

Deputies say the car belonged to the girlfriend of the children's father.
