Preparations underway for Mid-Michigan's biggest New Year's Eve event

MIDLAND, MI (WNEM) -

On Thursday night the biggest New Year’s Eve ball drop in the state is happening in Midland.

And this year, for the first time, Midnight on Main is moving inside to the Dow Diamond.

"I think this year will probably be one of the biggest events ever because we've taken weather out of the equation a lot of people used to wait last minute to buy their tickets and now we're seeing a lot more pre-sales," said Ron Browne.

Browne is one of the DJ's for this year's event.

He said crews have been setting up on the concourse for a few days now.

“This is going to be a network of moving headlights it will be a huge party area. They've actually got three or four party areas throughout the concourse,” Browne said.

For those worried about missing the big Michigan State game:

“All of the TVs on the concourse will have the MSU game on so you don't have to miss the game to go out and have a good time for New Year’s,” Browne said.

And Browne said leading up to midnight, it will be one big party at Dow Diamond for anyone 21 and up.

“Two bands going, three DJs going we're expecting about 3000 people. It's going to be a crazy time,” Browne said.
