Horse killed in Midland County accident

MIDLAND COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A horse was killed after it was struck by a car Sunday night.

It happened on M-20 near Eight Mile Road in Lee Township about 10:11 p.m.

A 20-year-old Lapeer man was driving a Chevy Cavalier when he hit the horse, Midland County Sheriff Scott Stephenson said.

The horse was loose in the westbound lane of M-20 and was killed as a result of the accident.

The driver was pinned in his car and taken to the hospital with minor injuries, Stephenson said.

The horse escaped from a property in Lee Township. The owner was ticketed for having an animal at large.
