STANDISH, MI (WNEM) -

Michelle Albert died on Jan. 1, after her fight with cancer.

The grandmother of four was receiving treatment for stage 4 breast cancer when her home was broken into and her grandchildren’s Christmas presents were stolen.

State police replaced those Christmas presents in time for the holiday.

A member of Albert’s family contacted TV5 to thank the community for their support:

“I would love to thank everyone who helped her. Because of the donations, she was able to give her grandkids a better Christmas than she ever dreamed possible.”

The family has a GoFundMe account set up for final expenses.
