Businesses eating cost of customer safety with water

"We are constantly being asked if it's Flint water," said Chris White.

White is the manager of popular Flint Crepe Company. Although business appears to be OK, White knows the Flint water questions come before any order.

"I have to explain to them over and over again that our water is clean all day I have to explain to people that the water is clean and it's safe and we are not going to poison our customers," White said.

For customers like Megan Stewart, questioning any business that serves anything in Flint makes obvious sense.

“It concerns me everywhere I go,” Stewart said. “That’s why I always ask is the water filtered. I have a 6-year-old right now and I'm worried about her behavior development for her whole life right now."

The Flint Crepe Company went to some extra measures to assure their customers that they are drinking absolutely safe, clean water with a $10,000 investment in their water filter system.

Rob Klaty is the owner of Flint Crepe Company and several other eatery's downtown. He said he is constantly testing the water quality

"We've been testing long before some people were talking about water purification system and taking precaution because water is important," Klaty said.

Klaty pays over $1,000 a month in water bills. He said it’s worth the price to make sure his customers come back.
