Brian Rourke is one of many of viewers stepping up to help this man, 19 year-old Brandon Beck.

"Thought it was a good opportunity to help," Rourke said.

TV5 first told you about Beck last week. He has cerebral palsy. He needed a new ramp to get out of his home.

But the current ramp he had was too steep and unsafe. So his family reached out to the TV5 Rescue Squad for help.

Rourke Builders of Oscoda answered the call.

"Brandon is an amazing kid. Just knowing him for two days he's just a really cool kid," Rourke said.

Thanks to supplies from Home Depot and Pro-Build, work began on the new ramp on Jan. 6.

Brandon Beck's mother Robin Beck said her son is already thinking about what he'll do with his newly regained independence.

"He’s talking about working at the soup kitchen Monday. And how when his ride gets here, ‘I’m just going to go, Mom,’" Robin Beck said.

The three man crew worked throughout the day to complete the ramp, cheered on by a grateful spectator.

"Brandon has been looking out the window at them. All the time telling them, good job guys! I just love you," Robin Beck said.

Then it was the moment everyone had been waiting for, watching Brandon Beck wheel out of his home – on his own – for the first time.

"It feels good," Brandon Beck said.

In all, numerous members of the community contacted TV5 wanting assist Beck. He said he appreciates the outpouring of support.

"You know I'm so happy that people come out for everything that they did," Brandon Beck said.

Of course, seeing Brandon Beck come down the new ramp meant a lot to Rourke and his crew. He said his grandfather, who started the company, worked to give back and make a difference.

"Oh, it was great for all of us. Yeah, my dad would like to see this, and yeah, it was great," Rourke said.
