Business owner invited to town hall in Washington D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC (WNEM) -

The president headlined a televised town hall meeting on guns on Thursday night outside Washington D.C.

The meeting was to generate public support for the recent executive actions.

Those changes are designed to expand background checks to cover more gun purchases made online and at gun shows.

A local business owner was invited to that town hall to represent gun owners.

Glenn Duncan, the owner of Duncan's Outdoor Shop in Bay City, said while he might not agree with everything in the president's plan – like background checks for everyone – he does agree about background checks and providing help for those with mental health issues.

Bottom line, though, he wants to make sure whatever legislation comes out of this is written in black and white.

"We need to make sure it's clear that the legislative people know they need to clear things up. We need to have one law that we all understand," Duncan said.

Above all, Duncan said he wants to make sure law-abiding citizens keep their rights.
