MSU announcing partnership with Detroit Public Television

Posted: Updated:

The president of Michigan State University is set to announce a partnership with Detroit Public Television.

Lou Anna Simon is in Detroit to attend a news conference Monday with Rich Homberg, the president of Detroit Public Television. MSU says the deal will "impact public television across the state." No other details were disclosed ahead of the event.

The event comes a day before Simon must declare whether MSU will participate in the sale of broadcast spectrum that would take WKAR-TV off the air. MSU still can back out before the March auction.

MSU could collect $200 million. Simon has said the university still could produce programs but deliver them in different ways.
