Former superintendent arrested in two bank robberies

LAPEER COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A Mid-Michigan bank was robbed by a man in a ski mask and investigators have arrested him in connection to another bank.

Dryden Township Police were called to the Oxford Bank on Main Street in Lapeer County at 12:12 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 8.

Officials said a man wearing a black ski mask and glasses walked into the bank when there were no other customers inside.

He kept his hand in his pea coat pocket and verbally demanded that bank tellers give him cash.

The Oxford police chief said Thomas Joseph Goulette, 51, Armada, was arrested in connection to the the Jan. 8 robbery, as well as a robbery on Jan. 7.

Police said they got a tip about the vehicle Goulette was driving at the time and were able to trace him back to his home.

Goulette was the school superintendent of Dryden Schools for eight years.
