Perrigo issues recall for children's cough medicine

Posted: Updated:

The Perrigo Company has issued a voluntary recall for two of its children’s cold medicines.

The recall is for two batches of its children’s guaifenesin grape liquid and three batches of its children’s guaifenesin DM cherry liquid.

The medicine was sold in 4 oz. bottles with the dosage cup in a box.

The recall was made because some of the cups contain incorrect dose markings, the company said.

The company also stated they have not received any reports of overdoses to date.

"There have been no reports of adverse events to Perrigo as a result of the incorrect dosage markings. Perrigo is taking this action to maintain the highest possible product quality standards for our retail customers and consumers. We are taking this action because it is the right thing to do,” Perrigo’s Chairman and CEO Joseph Papa said.

The recall for the grape liquid has labels H.E.B. and CVS with an expiration date of 08/2017.

The recall for the cherry liquid has labels Sunmark, Rite-Aid, Topcare, Kroger, GoodSense, Dollar General, Care One and CVS. They have an expiration date of 03/2017.

If you have one of the recalled medicines you are encouraged to throw it away and contact Perrigo at 1-888-345-0479.
