FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

On April 12, three more water resource sites are opening. They are being staffed by Flint residents, hired using state funding coordinated by Michigan Works!

"This change address some of the needs for residents that we've been asking for," said Mayor Karen Weaver. "We know it has been more difficult for some citizens to get the bottled water and filters being provided, because they aren't able to get to the fire stations themselves and need it delivered. With these new sites opening in various neighborhoods, we hope it allows more resident to get these essential water supplies."

National Guard members continue to help with both distribution and training at the new sites.

"We also know Flint residents need jobs. This address that as well, and more jobs and training for residents will be coming soon as the Flint WaterWorks initiative gets underway," Weaver said.

Any resident without transportation to a water distribution site can call 211 to have arrangements made for delivery.
