Police, volunteers deliver water door to door

One by one volunteers knocked on doors throughout Flint, delivering clean drinking water, which brightened up the day for people like Robert Hughes.

"It shows that everybody cares about everybody and it's a lot serious than most people would think," Hughes said.

Accompanied by uniformed officers from the Michigan State Police and the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department, an army of representatives from the health and wellness community braved the snow and bone chilling temperatures with one thing on their minds: get water to every home in Flint.

However it was somewhat of a shock for Ray Jamerson to see MSP at this time of the day.

"People are scared when they see the state boys anyway," Jamerson said. "If the state boys could wave them down and say, hey, we giving free water, or have a sign on their car instead of people flying people would just turn around and everybody needs to help out."

Thousands are helping out across the county donating tons of drinking water to Flint.

It was on full view at the Genesee County Community Action Resource Department.

Prior to Tuesday's distribution, MSP Lt. David Kaiser said the men and women on this mission are committed to this cause.

"I think it's just very important that each one of these people in the city have safe drinking water," Kaiser said.
